The Carlington Summit

The Ottawa Public Library Board has established an endowment fund to enhance its collection of non-fiction materials. The fund, initiated by a $10,000 gift from an anonymous donor, will be administered by the Community Foundation of Ottawa-Carleton.

“This donor has asked that we set up the endowment so that others would be encouraged to contribute to the lead gift thereby enabling the fund to grow,” says Barbara McInnes, president of the foundation. “Many people want to give back something tot heir community and what better way to do so than to support an important cultural institution like the public library.”

The foundation, which has a permanent asset base of $14 million, develops and manages charitable endowments for the community and uses the earnings to provide grants in areas of social services, health, education, environment, arts and culture.

Anyone interested in contributing to the Ottawa Public Library Endowment Fund should contact Vera Yuzyk, Resource Development Officer, at 236-0302, ext. 271.
