The Carlington Summit

It's that time of year again! The holiday season is a time for giving and sharing. It's also a time where the impact of food shortage is greater than usual. Have you ever wondered where your next meal is coming from? More than ever this is a reality for many families. Have you often wondered how you can help make a difference? The Caldwell Family Centre on Medford, one of the West-End distributors for the Ottawa Food Bank, needs our help. The time is NOW and here is how you can participate:

Join our team in the door-to-door collection of food. We need 100 volunteers to form teams of “walkers” and “drivers”.

If you will NOT be at home on Saturday, November 20th, you may:

Call Jocelyne at 729-2009 - Volunteers will be sent to your address... so leave the box or bag of food at the door.

OR

Bring the food to any food drop-off- centre in your neighbourhood or to the Saint- Bonaventure Church side entrance (corner of Kirkwood and Chatelain) from- 9:30 am to 3 p.m. If you are not home when volunteers stop at your house, they will leave a flyer giving you a list of drop-off centres.

Non perishable items most urgently needed

Clothing

Hats, scarves, socks, mittens, snowsuits, boots, toques, infant clothes are also needed for the long winter months and will be collected with the food.

Thanks to the Carlington Summit, we will be saving the time, energy and expense of delivering flyers door- to- door. This article will be the only notice regarding the Food Drive.

So, on Saturday November 20th, be part of the solution and count yourself in! For further information please contact Jocelyne D'Aoust at 729-2009.
