The Carlington Summit

The Central Experimental Farm Advisory Committee has named a chairperson. Mike Nowosad, the executive director of the Canadian 4-H Council, started the volunteer position this summer.

Established last year, the advisory council is responsible for reviewing proposals and making recommendations to the government about how lands are used at the Experimental Farm. Nowosad brings a variety of experience in senior management, government relations, volunteer development and non-profit management.

After reviewing proposals, the advisory council makes its recommendations to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

The council is made up of representatives of 11 groups that have an interest in the farm: the Council of Heritage Organizations in Ottawa, Heritage Canada Foundation, Montreal Botanical Garden, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment Sciences at McGill University, Canadian Institute of Planners, Friends of the Central Experimental Farm, Canada 4-H Council, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the Fletcher Wildlife Garden.

For times of upcoming public meetings, you can contact the council office here in Ottawa at 234-4448.
