The Carlington Summit

On May 4,5 and 6, 2001 junior, varsity and co-ed teams participated in Ontario's Provincial Cheerleading Championships. The St. Joe's Crusaders placed first place out of 12 schools from the whole province of Ontario.

It was an exhausting weekend but after it all it was worth every minute. On the St Josephs team we had Stacy, Beckie, Sarah, Cassandra, Jillian, Caitlan, Katie, Kendra, Aisys, Natasha, Kaeli, Erika, Shana, Maddison, Kelsey, Grace, Tiffany, Jennifer, Kristina and Victoria. Our coaches were Mrs. Gorman, Mrs Gerroir and Mrs Tessier. We would also like to give a special thanks to Amy Latimer and Alison Camalucci.

This exciting event took place in Toronto at York University. On Saturday, May 5, 12 junior teams competed, and as a result St Josephs came in 1st place. In the Varsity division, the Notre Dames Eagles placed 8th out of 34 teams. St. Joe's Crusaders had accomplished their goal - to be the best you can be and have fun.

Throughout the year, we had twice weekly practices of 2 hours each. Some weekends we would have “cheerleading weekends” as we would call them, where we practised our stunts and the dance routine and put it all together. I found being a junior on this amazing team was a cool experience, and I will definitely try out next year.
