Clyde/Merivale Lands

On February 14, 1996, Regional Council declared 90.17 acres of vacant land on the west side of Merivale Road, north of Baseline Road (formerly part of the Experimental Farm) surplus to the needs of the Region. The land had been acquired from Public Works Canada back in 1988 as a possible location for a Home for the Aged facility. This past year most of the required off-site services were provided as part of the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program, making the site developable. Unfortunately, there are a number of on-site servicing issues that have yet to be addressed, which means that this site cannot meet the timing requirements necessary to take advantage of the Provincial offer. Staff has been directed to develop a strategy for marketing and/or disposing of this asset. If you would like to be kept up-to-date on developments regarding this property, call my office.
