The Carlington Summit

To assist our readers in cutting through the confusion of ridings, wards and zones for the federal and municipal elections this month, the Summit has prepared the following summary for your information.

Federal election November 27

Carlington is divided between two federal ridings: Ottawa West-Nepean includes the area west of Merivale Road while Ottawa Centre includes the portion east of Merivale Road. You will be voting for one candidate to represent your riding.

Municipal election November 13

You will be voting for mayor of the new City of Ottawa, a ward councillor and a school board trustee. There are four school boards covering the Carlington community. You will vote for candidates in just one of them according to which one you direct your school board taxes.

For mayor, you will be voting for one of nine candidates: Marc-André BÉLAIR, Claudette CAIN, Bob CHIARELLI, James A. HALL, Ken MILLS, Morteza NAINI, Paula NEMCHIN, Georges SAADÈ, and John C. TURMEL.

The City ward name is River (Ward #16). You will be choosing between two candidates: Dave Hagerman and Wendy Stewart.

Supporters of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (English public) are in Zone 11. You will be voting for one of two candidates: Brian Gifford or Jeremy Sztuka.

Supporters of the Ottawa-Carleton Catholic School Board (English Catholic) are in Zone 9. You will be voting for one of three candidates: Kathy Ablett, Catherine Maguire-Urban, Andrew Scheer.

Supporters of le Conseil des écoles catholiques de langue française du Centre-Est (French Catholic) are in Zone 5 and Ronald Saumure was elected by acclamation.

Supporters of le Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario (French public) are in Zone 10 and Jean Paul Lafond was elected by acclamation.
