The Carlington Summit

I would like to introduce myself. I am Ronald Saumure, the new school trustee for the “Conseil des écoles catholiques de langue française du Centre-Est (CECLFCE)” and I represent catholic francophones in wards Bay, Baseline, Knoxdale-Merivale, Kitchissippi and River.

My wife Danielle, and I have have two boys and have lived in Nepean for more then 16 years. It was my role as a father and caregiver to my children that catapulted me into school activities. Since 1989, I have volunteered with several local community organizations in various capacities as well as on several School Board sub-committees. I am also serving on the board of directors for the “Centre communautaire Franc-Ouest” and made presentations to the Transition Board to ask that the new City of Ottawa be officially bilingual.

During my time as President for the School Councils for école élémentaire catholique Laurier-Carrière and Collège catholique Franco-ouest, I have built upon my grass roots connections and maintained ties with the local community — a community I am proud to represent today has school trustee. As Trustee, I am pledging my time and efforts to ensure we have an effective partnership working together with all parties to attain our goals. I am very concerned about safety in our schools and a good use of taxpayer's dollars. Your concerns and comments on any education issues are very important to me and I would appreciate you sharing them with me.

I can be reached by e-mail at saumure@canada.com and more information about me is available on my web site at http://www.ronaldsaumure.com
