What is Alpha?
Alpha is a short, practical ten week course designed to help people explore the Christian faith. Each week begins with supper, viewing a video followed by a meeting in groups to discuss the video and study biblical passages. Alpha was established in England over twenty years ago and there are now more than 4000 Alpha courses taking place all over the world.
Who is Alpha for?
- Those wanting to investigate Christianity.
- New Christians.
- Those who feel that they have never really got going as a Christian.
- Newcomers to the church.
- Those who want to brush up on the basics.
What's involved?
The course runs one evening a week (minus March Break) for 10 weeks starting on Feb. 21st, 2001. The evening begins at 6:30p.m. with supper, followed by a video at 7:15 p.m. We then meet in small groups for coffee and discuss any questions raised from the video, religious thoughts or the bible, aiming to finish by 9:15p.m. There is also a weekend on Apr. 6 - 7th with Fri. evening and Sat. sessions. This is a great way to get to know one another and is a key part of the course.
What will it cost?
There is no charge for Alpha, although a small contribution is requested to cover the expenses of the evening meal.
